Like others here, I've been at Stopgap for many years. Most of my tenure has been spent recruiting in the research and insights space but more recently I have also encompassed the not-for-profit and energy space, working alongside my jobshare partner Sarah.
The first part of my career was spent working in research - agency and clientside. I was then lured into recruitment in this same sector and discovered alot of transferable skills - principally listening to and understanding people and their motivations. That has stood me in good stead over the many subsequent years.
There's a theme here (!) - but I'd say always do your research. For candidates that's a thorough investigation of the company and interviewer pre-interview -or even before agreeing to have your details sent to a company - and for clients that's also being prepared for interview - whether that be looking at a candidate's CV or being clear on your interview questions and what you're hoping to ascertain.
Le Creuset - durable, built to last - and I can come in a range of colours dependent on time of day!
On the river - after an absence of about 15 years I have returned to rowing - and am loving it all over again.
